Many people don't know that we work on saddles and tack.  I'm not a saddle-maker but can repair many of the things that can go wrong.

Old Friend Slippers Before and After

 After removing the soles on these "Old Friend" house slippers, I decided these would be a good before and after.  The old soles were brittle and crumbling and I was able to resole them with some flexible cowhide leather that had been deer tanned.

Now this customer has their favorite house slippers and can continue to enjoy them for a good while longer.

This customer was going up north and wanted an aggressive sole for the winter weather

We put on an aggressive Gumlite sole made by Vibram, for better traction.

Ostrich Skin Boots Resoled and Heeled Before and After

This pair of Ostrich Skin Boots was half-soled and heeled.  Ostrich skin is easy to identify by the prominent bumps where the feathers were attached.  I really enjoy working on nice boots like these.

These are SAS shoes with severe toe wear and worn sole.

After leveling the toes and heels we resoled them.

We removed all the old material and resoled it with a Vibram Gumlite Sole.

The soles on this pair of Naturalizers were dry and brittle.

We removed the bad material and completely resoled the shoes.

Straight Lasted Childrens Shoes Before and After

These shoes were slippery.

We installed soleguard material to help with traction.

It's been awhile since we've worked on leather soled children's shoes.  These shoes were getting to slippery, so we installed soleguards to give more traction. These are straight lasted shoes.  You may ask what is a straight last? From about.com  Definition: "The shape of the shoe. A straight last shoe is symmetrical relative to a line drawn on the bottom of the shoe from the middle of the heel to the middle of the toe. It is best for neutral walkers who do not overpronate."  In other words, looking at the shoes you can't tell if they are left or right, they are straight lasted."
Shoes during the Civil War Era were straight lasted.  You could wear either shoe on either foot.

The bottom stud on the front right was broken.

We replaced the bottom stud.  The exact replacement was no longer available but we were able find a similar one that would work.

Did you know we carry we carry 6 different thicknesses of leather?  We try to match the original thickness of your soles.  So if you have a fine Italian loafers with a thin sole, we match it with a thin sole, not a clunky thick sole that changes the feel and flexibility.  On the other hand, if you have a pair of lace up dress shoes with a thick sole, we will match that thickness.

Padded Collar Replacement Before and After

The cloth padded collars on these boots had torn.

We put in new leather collars, now they look much better.

We carry several different shapes and sizes of padded collars, that will fit most boots.  If necessary we can custom make a pair to fit an unusual shape.

Sometimes dogs can be a shoe repairman's best friend.  Such is the case on the left, on the right the thong broke due to wear

You see a lot of flip flops in Florida, and this is a common problem on many peoples favorite flip flops.  Someone steps on the back of your heel and "pop" goes the thong. Or the family dog and/or cat takes a liking to that special pair.  Depending on how the thong sandal is made will determine how it will be fixed, but it can be done.

 Using a shoe horn can help prevent premature heel counter wear.  It's a simple tool that keep the heel counter from getting smashed when putting you shoes on.  We offer many different styles and lengths of shoe horns.

Zipper Repair On Purse Before And After

The main zipper wasn't working.

We replaced the slide.  Notice I saved the old pull tab to keep the logo.

If the teeth on your zipper are all there and none are missing, you most likely do not need a new zipper.  All you need is a new slide.  Over time slides wear out and do not pull the teeth together anymore.  In the purse above, I replaced the slide, but saved the old tab and put it on the new slide, so she could save her logo.
